Our family saga began during the reign of Napoleon III, in the Second Empire, a period of thriving economic prosperity. When he was only 20 years old my great-grandfather Eugène Mercier established his own House and revolutionized the world of champagne. He took up an incredible challenge: Make the wine of the era’s elites into a champagne accessible to everyone without ever sacrificing quality.
A brilliant innovator and communications visionary, Eugène Mercier always knew how to surprise and amaze the public… He launched numerous and original communications operations during the course of the 19th century: a filmed commercial with the Lumière brothers, the creation of unusual promotional items and grand wine tastings of Mercier champagnes at Universal Expositions.
An assemblage of Pinot Noir, Meunier and Chardonnay with a pale yellow color, MERCIER BRUT has a bouquet marked by white stone fruits and notes of fresh bread. Aromas of ripe apple and pear develop fully on the palate for a delightfully fresh finish.
« When I decide to have spur-of-the-moment at my house, I particularly favor Mercier Brut. This wine’s spontaneous flavors create the perfect atmosphere for friends. Its intense fruity freshness pairs perfectly with my favorite little appetizers: mini salmon burgers, foie gras with figs on toast, and individual terrines of shrimp, avocado and spinach.»
Emmanuel Mercier, ambassador for Mercier and great-grandson of the founder.
